Blue Ruin is a
2013 American thriller film directed by Jeremy
Saulnier. It was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2013
Cannes Film Festival[1] where it won
the FIPRESCI Prize.[2] It
was screened in the Vanguard section at the 2013
Toronto International Film Festival.[3] The
film's writer/director started a Kickstarter campaign in order to continue production on the film.
A mysterious outsider's quiet life is turned upside down when
he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving
himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his
estranged family.
